Digital Asia Autoethnography Research: Japanese Horror
Autoethnography is an approach to research and writing that seeks to describe and systematically analyze personal experience in order to understand cultural experience.
This week in Digital Asia seminar, I am tasked to explore a Digital Asia topic of my choice via an autoethnographic approach. Determining a field site of Asian media for the autoethnographic experience is not difficult at all for me. As mentioned in previous blog posts, I am from an Asian background. Since my childhood, I have been exposed to a multitude of Asian media types, especially East Asian media such as Kpop, Anime, Japanese Manga, Chinese drama, etc. However, I would like to investigate a field site that I have heard of, yet unfamiliar with: Japanese Horror Movies.
